Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, born March 26, 1991, often referred to professionally by the name Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and is the first female artist to be signed with J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. In October 2016, Ari Lennox released her EP Pho. It was here that she was recognized. The album that she released as her debut studio album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7 2019. Ari Lennox first released songs online in the year 2012. She released her debut album Ariography as well as her debut mixtape in 2013 with five Finger Discount. Ari Lennox continued to post her songs online, including her self-released single Bound. In 2015, she appeared on Omen's Elephant Eyes Album on Sweat it out on July 21st. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville team at the time and wanted her to create Rihanna reference. She officially was signed to Dreamville Records on 8 December. She made an appearance on the joint album Revenge of the Dreamers II featuring the track Backseat Cozz. The 21st of October, 2016, her EP Pho was released. Ari Lennox appeared in J. Cole's Change track and also opened the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017. The year 2018 saw Ari Lennox guested on two tracks featuring EarthGang On Nothing but the Best, and Bas On Icarus. The debut album of Ari Lennox Shea Butter Baby was released on July 16, 2018. The album's first single, Whipped Cream The album's first single, Whipped Cream was released on in September 5th, 2018, accompanied by a an accompanying music video. On November 9 she released two more singles called 40 Shades of Choke and Grampa. Two additional singles were also released on the 11th of November with the titles Pedigree and One. Shea Butter Baby is a track she sang with Cole for Creed II's soundtrack on 16 November. The track was released as a standalone single in February of 2019 to coincide with the release of her debut album. A music video debuted on February 20, 2019 to go along with the track. Within one period of a week, the video had more than 3,000,000 views. The singer was a part of the 6LACK's From East Atlanta With Love Tour at the end of December 2018.
