Selena
She was a designer, singer and performer and broke down barriers in the music industry. She was both traditional and modern a Mexican-American performer who merged both realms of music in an unison way. And she provided excellent Tejano music to a mass crowd. The tragic loss of her life shattered her growing popularity and, like many times when a bright deeply genial superstar dies young, she caused many to grieve her unrealized potential. In the years since, her admirers are working even more to not forget what she's achieved. The tragic shooting death of Selena caused a reaction in the Latino Community that was comparable to reactions following the deaths of Elvis Presley or John Lennon. Selena was a wildly popular singer among Latinos in North America. But her songs touched the hearts of both young and old. Selena, who was hot and glamorous stage performer, who was often called Latina Madonna, was also a model offstage. She participated in antidrug campaigns.
